CNN Politics.com
Much talk has been going on about the 2008 presidential election. In many classes this has been a hot topic. On the CNN website there are loads of articles that talk about many different issues and how the presidential candidates vie different issues.
The main issues are abortion, immigration, same sex marriage, the war in Iraq, social security, healthcare and taxes. The issues that I looked into a lot more were immigration, social security, abortion, and same sex marriages.
I was surprised that both the democrats and the republicans had similar views on immigration as far as being opposed to it; both parties were not in favor to it at all. Another thing that I noticed was that both parties were apposed to same-sex marriage. The democrat part was more in favor to civil unions but many of the candidates were opposed to same-sex marriage.
Overall reading the different articles and all the democrat and republican candidate point of views helped me get new perspectives about the election. Although I felt that on many topics many of the candidates had similar views except for a little bit of a different twist on certain issues, which led me to think that Democrats and Republicans are not very different from each other.

I'm assuming this is supposed to be your column, but it doesn't really work as a topical commentary or personal "meditation" column.
Look at the examples in the text on p. 131, and read some columns and opinion pieces. For example, take a look at columns on Newsweek online -- the "My Turn" columns in the bottom right corner are good examples.
