New York: Iran’s leader can’t visit ground zero
Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad wanted to visit ground zero in New York City. New York City officials said not because it is under construction. The United States also considers Iran a state sponsor of terrorism. Many leaders like Hillary Clinton and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani stated that the request was “audacious” and “unacceptable.” A statement issued on Wednesday called the rejection “unfortunate.”
This new story had impact because it took back people to September 11th. The story also had some bizarreness because most American’s were appalled that the Iranian President wanted to visit ground zero and leave a wreath there. Many people view Iran as a sponsor to terrorism so it was an odd request from the President of Iran.
